  1. Arrondissement of Briançon, (subprefecture: Briançon) with 7 cantons and 38 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 31,042 in 1990, and was 32,124 in 1999, an increase of 3.49%.
  2. Arrondissement of Gap, (prefecture of the Hautes-Alpes department: Gap) with 23 cantons and 139 communes. The population of the arrondissement was 82,258 in 1990, and was 89,295 in 1999, an increase of 8.55%.
