Asha Tanna is a journalist and television presenter in the United Kingdom.

[edit] Early years and education

Tanna grew up in South East London and graduated from Portsmouth University with a degree in English and Literary Studies. Her career in journalism began in 1998 as a district reporter for the Watford Observer. She is retraining part-time (2010) to become a Primatologist at Roehampton University to work more in conservation journalism. She's also blogging on conservation and primate related issues.

Tanna left The Watford Observer to work for BBC Radio Leeds as a regional radio reporter and presenter in 2001. In 2002, she went to work for BBC London 94.9 and then BBC London News as a TV producer and weekend reporter. In 2005 she moved to BBC South East Today, before returning to London to work as an overnight news correspondent for BBC Breakfast, BBC News, Radio Five Live Breakfast and the Today Programme.[1]

From September 2008, Asha presented overnight and weekend coverage on Sky News stand-in lunchtime presenter; weekday evening updates; and weekend anchor for Five News. She was made redundant from Five News in February 2009 but as of March 2009 she has been presenting on Sky News and Sky Sports News.

In April 2009, she reported on the G20 London summit for BBC News. She freelances for BBC News as a correspondent and is a presenter on BBC Inside Out Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. She's started freelancing for Channel 4 News[2] as a reporter on TV and online.

In July she travelled to Uganda to film, produce and report on the work that conservationists are doing. BBC Earth News[3] ran her story about a goat scheme helping to safeguard the lives of wild chimpanzees in the Budono Forest in West Uganda.
