Association of Donor Relations Professionals
The Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP) is an organization and advocacy group for donor relations and stewardship professions. It promotes the professional status of donor relations and stewardship offices as key components in fundraising and development efforts through education, professional development, and networking opportunities.
The current membership is composed of more than 1,300 professionals representing education, health care, the arts, and other nonprofit organizations. Members represent 45 states with a strong contingent from Canada.
The association is a nonprofit business league, incorporated under the laws of the State of New Hampshire. Its board of directors follows the organization's bylaws and is composed of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer and 16 directors representing various regions and types of institutions. Board members hold three-year terms running January 1 to December 31.
ADRP endorses the Donor Bill of Rights as developed by the American Association of Fund Raising Counsels (AAFRC), the Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
ADRP provides tools to assist with the development of successful donor relations programs at their organizations. The programs are provided by membership practitioners in the field and various professional firms. The group holds an annual webinar series and maintains an "Experts" Bureau.
Each year, ADRP hosts a conference featuring programming for Donor Relations and Stewardship professionals from diverse organizational settings and in various career stages. In 2006, Pre-Conference Institutes were introduced to provide intensive training.
The conference is an opportunity to learn best practices for Stewardship and Donor Relations, engage in professional development and identify trends and issues.
The 2014 International Conference is scheduled for September 17–19 in Seattle, Washington. In 2015, the conference will be held in Memphis, Tennessee, September 30 - October 2.
ADRP also sponsors regional workshops. Topics include effective donor communication, creative stewardship, personalized donor relations, donor engagement, best practices and strategic planning.
