Assumption Cathedral

Assumption Cathedral or Dormition Cathedral (Russian: храма Успения Cathedral of the dormition or Успенский собор Uspenski Cathedral) may refer to a number of Cathedral churches consecrated to the Dormition of the Theotokos in the Orthodox tradition and Assumption of Mary in the Roman Catholic tradition:

  • The Dormition Cathedral, Vladimir, aka Assumption Cathedral in Vladimir (1158-89) - the mother church of Russia from the 12th to the 15th century, the model for all subsequent churches of that name
  • The Dormition Cathedral, Moscow, aka Assumption Cathedral in the Moscow Kremlin (1475-79)
