[edit] History

Atenas played only one season in Primera División Uruguaya, 2009/2010. In fact, their debut at the second level was on May 5, 2002. That day, they played against Racing Club de Montevideo facing a one to one (1-1) tie.

They are the most successful team from outside Montevideo, having won a lot of tournaments in their regional league, and are one of the top-winners of the Campeonato de Clubes Campeones del Interior (national tournament for Uruguay amateur clubs).

They are supported by many people who live around the region.
