The men's decathlon was a track and field athletics event held as part of the Athletics at the 1904 Summer Olympics programme. It was the first time the event, intended to be an all-around championship in athletics, was held. The decathlon would not return for the next edition of the games in 1908, but made its return in 1912 and has been part of the Olympic programme since.
7 athletes from 2 nations competed. It was one of only 2 (out of 25) events not won by an American.
