Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Atlanta-Fulton Public Library System is a network of public libraries serving the City of Atlanta and Fulton County, both in the U.S. state of Georgia. It is jointly administered by the city and county authorities.
The Downtown Central Library, designed by Marcel Breuer, is described by Barry Bergdoll -- Chief Architectural Curator of the Museum of Modern Art -- as a masterpiece. The building, an eight-story structure, is clad in textured concrete panels, with a few beveled, trapezoidal windows. It is one of Atlanta's few remaining, modernist, architectural gems; a brutalist building by a Bauhaus master, derived from the International Style.
