Vector Engineering Inc. (formerly vectoreng.com, now ausenco.com) was founded in Grass Valley, California in July 1986, by four partners: Mark Smith (President from 1986 - 2009), Beverly Smith, Tim Smith and Peggy Smith (citation needed). The firm specialized in the application of civil engineering, hydrogeology, geology, and geotechnical and geological engineering to the mining and solid waste industries.
In 2008 Vector joined the Ausenco Group of Companies. In October of 2011, the Ausenco Vector Grass Valley, California office, managed by Jake Russell, was sold to Geo-Logic Associates. In 2012, Ausenco Vector was rebranded as Ausenco's Environment & Sustainability business line.
