Australian Centre for Egyptology

The Australian Centre for Egyptology (ACE) is an umbrella organisation established in 1989 by Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, in order both to coordinate Australian excavation efforts in Egypt with the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA), and to promote Egyptology within the Australian cultural landscape.
The organisation currently maintains excavation efforts at Saqqara, Giza, Helwan and Luxor.
Although centred on Macquarie University, ACE includes active members from a number of other Australian universities.
The Australian Centre for Egyptology is directed by its founder and Macquarie University's first Professor of Egyptology, Naguib Kanawati.
