Averatec (Korean: 에버라텍) is a South Korean laptop computer brand owned by TG Sambo, the country's first computer maker. The brand first entered the American market in July 2003 and has since grown 360% to the fourth largest laptop maker, overtaking Sony in 2004 with a market share of 11.6% according to Current Analysis.[1] Averatec has operations in South Korea, North America, Taiwan and Europe.
North American laptop models come with 10.6, 11.1, 12.1, 13.3, 15.4 or 17 inch displays. They offer a wide variety of processors such as Intel Centrino, Intel Atom, AMD Turion 64, AMD Sempron, or AMD Athlon XP-M.

Founded in 1984 as Sotec in Orange County, California, it promoted affordable PCs in the United States manufactured in Taiwan. In the early 2000s, the company renamed itself as Averatec and was purchased by South Korean computer maker TG Sambo as part of their plans to enter the U.S. market. The brand soon gained popularity with the Averatec 55500 model, and its success in the U.S. market made TG Sambo introduce the brand also to its home market, South Korea, as well as Europe and Taiwan.
In August 2006, they released a portable GPS unit called the Voya 350.
In May 2007, the company released the 2301 and 1579 models pre-loaded with Windows Vista in North America.
