AyA Kitchens and Baths is a cabinet manufacturer and design firm located in Mississauga, Ontario Canada.[1] The company specializes in luxury kitchen and bath designs, featuring urban, classic, contemporary and traditional lines.[2] It was one of the fastest growing companies in its industry in 2006,[3] and was one of 58 companies mentioned in the 2007 Research and Markets report on the household furniture industry in North America.[4] The word "AyA" deriving from the Japanese Language means design and is pronounced i'ya.[5]
AyA was founded in 2000 by David Marcus, son of former founder of Canac Kitchens; Karl Marcus. It was incorporated in the United States in 2003.[6] AyA launched one of the industry’s first Green Design programs in 2007. Its FSC certified EVO line of cabinetry was launched in 2008.[7] AyA is also active in the community, supporting projects such as “The Room That Hope Built”,[8] a patient’s lounge in the cancer ward at Toronto’s Princess Margaret Hospital and Habitat for Humanity.
AyA has been a regular supplier to the popular TV show “Divine Design with Candice Olson,”[9] and has been featured in magazines such as Canadian Living, Canadian House and Home[10] as well as The Globe and Mail[11] and National Post newspapers.[12]
In 2005, Aya won the Toronto Construction Association's 2005 "Best of the Best Award," for Harbourview Estates Ph 1 & 2, PCL Construction. It holds certification from the Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody FSC ; WoodMark, Wood Products Quality Council [13]; and the KCMA Environmental Stewardship Program KCMA
