Bani Walid (Arabic: بني وليد) is a city in Libya, in the Misurata District.[1] Prior to 2007 it was the capital of Bani Walid District. Administratively it is divided into two Basic People's Congresses:[1] Dahra - Bani Walid (الظهرة – بني وليد) and Zaytouna - Bani Walid (الزيتونة – بني وليد). The city is located along the Wadi Merdum, on both sides of the arroyo. The city is the home to the Rafla tribe among others.
