BankLink is an accounting service used by more than 325,000 small businesses for their GST and end of year tax in Australia and New Zealand. BankLink is available to businesses through their accountants.
The BankLink service electronically delivers bank transaction data from participating banks directly to the accountant. BankLink software then automatically codes as many transactions as possible. The accountant can then find out from the client the nature of any uncoded transactions using any of BankLink's electronic reports.
BankLink started in business in 1986 and has expanded to being used by more than 1,200 accounting practices in New Zealand and 3,200 in Australia.
In 2009, BankLink launched a trial in the United Kingdom. To date (2010) the trial has been successful in proving the BankLink concept for the United Kingdom. BankLink expects to commercialise its service in the UK in the second quarter 2011.[citation needed]
