Barber is an unincorporated community in Butte County, California. It lies at an elevation of 190 feet (58 m). It is 1 mile (1.6 km) south of Chico, along the Southern Pacific Railroad;[2] as Chico has expanded, it has so encroached on Barber that Barber is sometimes considered a neighborhood of Chico. Barber is named for O. C. Barber, president of the Diamond Match Company which had a factory here.[2]
