Barkot is one of the 44 union councils, administrative subdivions, of Haripur District in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan[1]. The town of Barkot is located at an altitude of 1379 m (4527 ft).[2]

Barkot is an old town of district Haripur Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Its Other Co-villages are Hali, Kharian, Darkot,Nallah, Dannan Ferozpur,Jhalees, Nilan Bohto. Most of area is hilly. These mountain are linked with the mountains of Khanpur and margalla hills of Islamabad.

The Abbasi tribes are in majority. some other groups are also living in this part of Haripur, i.e., Rajgan, Syed, Awan, Gujar etc. Barkot Village is a beautiful valley situated on the Pirsohawa - Kohalabala Road, 14 Km from Pirsohawa. It is surrounded by two large and beautiful mountains. Entrance to the village is from Kohala and Komal sides. It is a valley with beautiful houses. Hali, Kharian and Nilanboto are another nice and attractive villages of this union council. The Union Council Barkot is located in the most south-westerly part of Haripur District, to its east district Abbotabad UC Phalla is located, West it is bordered by Khanpur and to the south its bordered by Islamabad. It is an easily accessible village. Barkot is divided into two parts partitioned by a beautiful stream.[AWAN GROUP OF BARKOT ]
