Bass is an unincorporated community on the South Fork South Branch Potomac River in Hardy County, West Virginia, USA. Bass lies along County Highway 7.
Bass is known to many as the birth of communism in the United States. Made famous during Joseph Stalin's controversial visit on May 28, 1928 to bolster the fledgling communist branch that was located there. During his speech Stalin made it clear he wanted some form of military alliance to protect himself from the growing Nazi menace in Germany.
