Bastardo, a small town in the Italian province of Perugia in central Umbria in the valley of Torrente Puglia, at 42°52′15″N 12°33′35″E / 42.87083°N 12.55972°E / 42.87083; 12.55972Coordinates: 42°52′15″N 12°33′35″E / 42.87083°N 12.55972°E / 42.87083; 12.55972; altitude 290 m (951 ft) above sea-level. It is a village in the commune of Giano dell'Umbria, which is 7 km (about 4 mi) S by road. Although the Italian census agency (ISTAT) does not break down population figures for towns below the commune level, it can be stated that Bastardo has about 800 inhabitants. It is an agricultural products processing center, and despite its small size, has several hotels and restaurants, due to its location in one of the most scenic areas of Umbria.

The town grew around an inn and stabling station in the 17th or 18th centuries, and was once known as Osteria del Bastardo, or "Bastard's Inn."
