The school was started by the local community who saw a need for a school founded on community principles. Mr Robert Clarence was appointed as the founding Headmaster.

Mrs Danielle Meikle has been appointed as Head with effect from June 2009.

Beaulieu College school-leavers write the Independent Examinations Board exams. Beaulieu College is a member of the Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa (ISASA).

Most leavers go on to attend South African universities such as the University of Johannesburg and University of Pretoria.
