Behrouz Vossoughi (Persian: بهروز وثوقی‎,[1] born as Khalil Vossoughi [2] 10 March 1938 in Khoy, West Azerbaijan, Iran) is an Iranian International actor. Vossoughi is one of Iran's most legendary actors.

Career[edit]

Behrouz Vossoughi is one of Iran's most legendary actors. He has over 40 years of experience in the motion picture industry, with featured appearances in more than 90 films. Vossoughi In addition to his work in films, television, radio and theater. He started acting in films with Samuel Khachikian's Toofan dar Shahre ma and Gole gomshodeh 1962 Abbas Shabaviz. He became a major star as the brooding hero of the revenge drama Qeysar 1969 Masoud Kimiai. He has over 50 years of experience in the motion picture industry, with featured appearances in more than 90 films. His work has earned him recognition at several international film festivals, like winner Best Actor International Film Festival of India in 1974 and Lifetime Achievement Award San Francisco International Film Festival 2006. He was one of the first to play in American and European Co-Productions such as in Caravans 1978 in 1978 co-starring with Anthony Quinn, Jennifer O'Neill and Michael Sarrazin. He was also to play in another Movie called The Invincible Six 1970 with Curd Jürgens in 1962 and Sphinx with Frank Langella, Lesley-Anne Down in 1981. In 2000, at the San Francisco Film Festival award ceremony, Abbas Kiarostami was awarded the Akira Kurosawa Prize for lifetime achievement in directing, but surprised everyone by giving it away to veteran Iranian actor Behrouz Vossoughi for his contribution to Iranian cinema.[3][4] Behrouz In 2012, he was an official festival judge for the Noor Iranian Film Festival.

Behrouz Vossoughi currently resides in San Rafael, California with his wife, Catherine Vossoughi. Previously, he was briefly married, in the 1970s, to the Iranian singer Googoosh.
