The Belfast Town Police was the police force of Belfast in Ireland (now in Northern Ireland) for much of the 19th century.[1]

The force was disbanded in 1865 following several years of serious communal rioting between Ulster Protestants and Roman Catholics (most of whom had migrated from other parts of Ulster), and their duties were taken over by the Royal Irish Constabulary.[citation needed]
