Belvedere Vodka is considered to be the world’s first luxury vodka. It is produced in a century old Polish distillery, in a manner derived from 600 years of vodka making tradition. The company is owned by the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH. and internationally categorized as a super premium vodka.
Belvedere hails from the small town of Zyrardow, 45km west of Warsaw. The distillery, Polmos Zyrardow was established in 1910 and continued producing vodka throughout two world wars and many European hardships. After the fall of communism, Polmos Zyrardow set out to create its own proprietary vodka and distinguish itself from other authentic Polish distilleries. It was named Belvedere after the Belweder Palace in Warsaw (currently displayed on every bottle), a name that translates to “beautiful to see.”
Belvedere Vodka remained a regional delicacy until the 1990’s, when an American named Edward Jay Phillips traveled to Europe. Edward Jay Phillips was the son of American advice columnist “Dear Abby” and a global philanthropist, with charities involving Alzheimer’s research, the Worldwide Orphans Foundation, the Apollo Theater, and Children’s Hospital. Phillips traveled to Poland (considered by many historians as the birthplace of vodka) in search of an authentic, super premium vodka that he could bring to America. Upon discovering Belvedere Vodka, Phillips immediately acquired the US distribution rights and delivered his discovery state side.
In 2002, the product garnered the attention of multinational luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, heralded by many as the world leader in prestigious brands. At that time LVMH began a committed, three year process of acquiring Belvedere Vodka, which is now sold in 100 countries with a portfolio including Belvedere Vodka, Belvedere Unfiltered, and Belvedere Intense, as well as the macerations (flavors) Citrus, Orange, Pink Grapefruit, Black Raspberry, Lemon Tea, Bloody Mary and Mango Passion.
Belvedere Vodka is handcrafted from 100% Dankowskie Rye, grown only in the Mazlovian planes of Western Poland and considered ideal for distillation due to its high starch content. The rye is blended with pure, proprietary Artesian well water and distilled four times in a process designed to balance purity while retaining character. This process adheres to over 600 years of vodka making tradition.
Belvedere enjoys a rich history of receiving awards in excellence worldwide.
The 50 Best Vodka Awards awarded Gold medals to Belvedere Vodka, Belvedere Citrus, Belvedere Lemon Tea, and Belvedere Bloody Mary. Belvedere Unfiltered was awarded the Gold Medal twice, while Double Gold Medals were awarded to Belvedere Bloody Mary and Belvedere Pink Grapefruit.
The International Spirits Challenge is comprised of a specialist panel consisting of master blenders, master distillers, importers, distributors, buyers, consultants, journalists, authors and independent experts. Macerations (or “Flavors”)
Belvedere Vodka utilizes a proprietary artisan process to produce its super premium flavored vodkas. using only organically grown real fruit, herbs, and spices. These flavors are not charcoal filtered, and are only very delicately filtered through cellulose particle filters prior to bottling. This is done to ensure the essential oils that carry fruit flavors and give exceptional mouth feel are retained.
The award-winning Belvedere Maceration collection includes: Mango Passion, Lemon Tea, Bloody Mary, Pink Grapefruit, Black Raspberry, Orange, and Citrus.

The image featured a man playfully restraining a woman who appeared to be trying to flee, and the slogan, "Unlike Some People, Belvedere Always Goes Down Smoothly." The image was published on the social media sites for roughly 45 minutes before being pulled.
