Biip.no is the second largest Internet-based community in Norway (after Facebook) with more than 450,000 users and profiles (as of December 16, 2011). It was founded on June 1, 2005, and is owned by TV 2 TV 2 AS, a Norwegian news company, the Danish publishing house Egmont and the founders. Users use nicknames instead of real names. Users' profiles are visible to all other users.
Biip.no was recently sold to TV 2 AS and Egmont for a reported 20 million USD.
