Bǐng is the Hanyu Pinyin transliteration of the Chinese family name "邴," which first appeared over 2,000 years ago in China.
During the Zhou dynasty there were several strong states scattered throughout modern-day China. The land that is currently the PRC's Shandong province made up the State of Lu. The King of Lu awarded a manor to a scholar-bureaucrat for excellent service to the kingdom. Because the name of this manor was Bing (丙) Manor, and because at that time most Chinese surnames contained the 阝 radical (e.g. 郑, 邹, 陈), the scholar-bureaucrat combined the radical and the character to craft himself a new surname (邴) to honor the king's generosity.
