The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Jakarta (Latin: Giakartan(us)) is an archdiocese located in the city of Jakarta in Indonesia.

History[edit]

  • 1807: Established as the Apostolic Prefecture of Batavia from the Apostolic Prefecture of Bourbon
  • April 3, 1841: Promoted as the Apostolic Vicariate of Batavia
  • February 7, 1950: Renamed as the Apostolic Vicariate of Djakarta
  • January 3, 1961: Promoted as the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Djakarta
  • August 22, 1973: Renamed as the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Jakarta
