Bissau (Hindi:बिसाऊ) is a city and a municipality in Jhunjhunun district in the state of Rajasthan, India.

Its original name was 'Vishala Jat Ki Dhani'. Keshari Singh, son of Shardul Singh of Jhunjhunu got this village in Jagir. Keshari Singh constructed a palace here and the boundary wall for defence and named this habitation as Bissau in samvat 1812 (1755 AD).[1]

Is another small town of fluctuating fortunes in Sekhawati, Rajasthan. Keshri Singh founded the town. It fell into anarchy when his grandson Shyam Singh extorted huge sums of money from the local merchants. The merchants packed up and fled the town and the local Thakurs indulged in looting and theft. However, after the death of Shyam Singh, his heir restored normalcy and the merchants were encouraged to return.

Bissau is located at 28°15′N 75°05′E / 28.25°N 75.08°E. It has an average elevation of 292 metres (958 feet). Bissau is famous for its historical heritage and old buildings of 18th century. It is also famous for its mute play of "Ramleela", a play based on Ramayan(Religious epic of Hindus)which lasts for 15 days in the month of october. Bissau is the only place in the world where Mute Ramleela(Hindi-Mook Ramleela)takes place.Thousands of international tourists visit bissau every year.Recently world's largest statue of Lord Shiva built here by bissau based business group "The jatiya group".

As of 2001[update] India census,[2] Bissau had a population of 21,133. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Bissau has an average literacy rate of 60%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 70% and female literacy of 50%. 18% of the population is under 6 years of age. The current population of bissau(2009) is around 45000.
