"Black Fingernails, Red Wine" is the first single by Eskimo Joe, taken from their third studio album Black Fingernails, Red Wine. It has been their most successful single to date: their first song to chart in the top ten of the ARIA Singles Chart (peaking at #6); spent 19 weeks in the top 20, and won Single of the Year at the ARIA Music Awards of 2006. It also made #2 on the Triple J Hottest 100, 2006. The single was released as the bands debut single in the United States in August 2007.
Two music videos were made for this song:
- Showed the band members in a car, kidnapping people in the middle of the night. At the end of the video, the kidnapped people were revealed to be Eskimo Joe themselves. When Kavyen Temperley was a guest on The Glass House, he offered that this symbolised that Eskimo Joe had changed, and the kidnapped band were the old Eskimo Joe.
- A simple performance video, showing the band playing in an old building.
Due to the criminal theme of the first video, it received an MA15+ classification in Australia, restricting it to night-time airplay. The second promo clip was made to enable the song to be played by daytime music shows.

- In the second music video, on one of the walls the words 'Kilroy was here' are visible.
- The CDROM on the Limited Edition Enhanced CD Single has the following explanation:
This CD contains software that, for a limited time, enables the consumer to create and buy their very own personalised ringtones, you can choose any part of any track on this CD as your ringtone.
- A common mishearance is the line "All of us stand and point our fingers" is comically misheard as "I don't understand the point of fingers"
