The black light puppet is a puppet designed to be used on a stage lit by ultraviolet light, also known as black light in puppetry. By lighting the stage with only these specialized lights, the audience can see only the objects that are coated with a special paint, notably the puppets.
Controlling what the audience sees is a major responsibility of any puppeteer, and blacklight lighting provides a new way of accomplishing this.
