Bongaree is a suburb of the Moreton Bay Region in Queensland, Australia. It is located on the western side of Bribie Island, adjacent to the Pumicestone Passage. At the 2006 census, the suburb recorded a population of 14,275 persons, with a median age of 55 years.[1].
The suburb is named after the Aboriginal explorer Bungaree.[citation needed]
