Playing career [edit]
On February 18, 2011, Valabik was traded by Atlanta to the Boston Bruins along with Rich Peverley for Mark Stuart and Blake Wheeler.[1]
On July 3, 2011, Valabik signed a one year, two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The contract is worth $550,000 at the NHL level.[2] After recovering from off-season surgery to his knee, Valabik was finally assigned to AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins midway through the 2011–12 season. In only his third game from making his return, Valabik suffered a season-ending hand injury that required surgery on February 16, 2012.[3]
