The Bradenton Herald is a McClatchy newspaper in Bradenton, Florida, in the United States. Since 2006, The Bradenton Herald has published an edition called the Lakewood Ranch Herald that focuses on local coverage of the rapidly growing eastern region of Manatee County.

  • 1922: Founded. The Bradenton Herald, a weekly that had been in existence since the turn of the 19th to 20th century, merged with another weekly, The Manatee River Journal. The result was The Evening Herald, which was published Monday through Saturday until 1926, when the Saturday publication was replaced by a Sunday edition and the name was changed to The Bradenton Herald. In 1953 the Saturday edition resumed.
  • 1925: Sold to the R. W. Page Corp. of Columbus, Ga., in 1925
  • 1973: Sold to Knight Newspapers, Inc.
  • 1974: Knight Newspapers and Ridder Publications merge, and The Bradenton Herald becomes a Knight Ridder newspaper.
  • 2006: Sold as one of the newspapers included in the sale of Knight Ridder newspapers to The McClatchy Company.
