Brahmapuri is located at 20°22′N 79°31′E / 20.36°N 79.51°E. It has an average elevation of 229.5 metres (753 feet).

As of 2001[update] India census,[1] Brahmapuri had a population of 31,200. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Brahmapuri has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 82% and female literacy of 69%. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

In 1854, when Chandrapur was formed as an independent district, it included Bramhapuri as a tehsil in 1874. Then a new tehsil with headquarters at Gadchiroli was created in 1905 by transfer of zamindari estates from Brahmapuri and Chandrapur tehsil.

The climate of Bramhapuri city is generally hot and dry. The climate is humid in the rainy season. The temperature is high in summer than 45*C. The rainfall is very quite heavy in Bramhapuri. And in winter season temperature is fall than 10*C.

Bramhapuri is the taluka headquarters and it is famous for its rice market.The cottage industry here is that of rolling bidis. It is also a cattle market. Bramhapuri is a one of the six divisions in Chandrapur disttrict. Bramhapuri is an important place on roadways. Area code (STD) is 07177. Brahmapuri is known as a medical and dental hub in the surrounding area.The head office of 'SOCH'- Society for Oral Cancer and Health is located here. Brahmpurian's Dental Superspeciality Clinic is named after the people of Brahmapuri and is one of the leading dental and oral health care providers. Bramhapuri is famous for sports all over Maharashtra, mainly Hockey, Basketball, Handball and chess.
