Brian Boru Irish Pipe Band of St. Paul, Minnesota is a Grade 4[clarification needed] bagpipe band based in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Metro Area of Minnesota. The band has performed with Green Day and Blink-182. The band primarily plays celtic music with an Irish emphasis.[1] In 2007 the band became a 501c3 non-profit. They have approx. 20 members and a dozen students. Their uniforms consist of the saffron kilt, black tunic, and black cabeen (beret) with green or red plumes and are modeled after traditional Irish pipe bands. A number of the band members wear the original brass buttons from uniforms of the Irish Volunteers, the very units involved in the historic Easter Uprising in Dublin.[2] They practice at an Irish Merchandise warehouse called the Irish Rose in West St. Paul.[1]
The band performs annually at the Minnesota Irish Fair,[3] Minnesota Scottish Fair[4] and the South Dakota Celtic Faire [5]
