[edit] Plot

Krishna, alias Krish (Jr. NTR), is the son of a millionaire (Mukesh Rishi) in Hyderabad. He has a love interest in Indu (Samantha Ruth), who has a friend Bhoomi (Kajal). The twist is that Bhoomi’s father (Prakash Raj) wants to get her married to her cousin (Ajay), which Bhoomi doesn’t like. Naturally, she bluffs to the family that she has already fallen in love with a guy. Indu helps her by renting Krish as her would-be, just to let her escape the wedding situation for the time being. Going to the village of her pretending lover, Krish successfully solves the rivalry between the girl’s dad and his brother (Srihari). Impressed with the talent of Krish, Bhoomi’s dad accepts her love and declares them as would-be-couple. A surprise twist is revealed that Indu is daughter of Srihari i.e., Indu and Bhoomi are in fact cousin sisters. At last Bhoomi also falls in love with Krish. Krish has a positive approach towards both girls and the final question of who Krish will marry is left to the audience.

[edit] Cast

[edit] Production

The shooting of Brindavanam was launched on August 16, 2009.[3] A huge set of a palatial bungalow was erected in Hyderabad for the movie. This was the biggest set for any Telugu film to date.[4] The film also had to be delayed because one of the senior actors Kota Srinivasa Rao lost his son in an accident, and could not attend the shoot. Also the lead actor Jr. NTR met with an accident shooting for a fight scene, and the shoot had to be stalled for several more days.[5]

[edit] Reception

The film opened to mostly positive reviews. Sify gave a three star rating and noted " The major plus point is that Brindavanam has been shot well. The comedy is hilarious, though parts of it are outdated. Though NTR plays a role that doesn't suit his image, he does it with elan. His dialogues are simply superb. For the first time, NTR tried to play a lover boy - Whether the audience will accept that remains to be seen. Kajal's role is dull from the start to finish, while Samantha too cannot enliven the mood." Rediff gave a two star rating says " Everything about the film is formulaic which may appeal to family audiences".[6] NDTV stated "NTR's performance is unquestionably the highlight of the film. He tries to show some novelty in his performance through action scens that are done with ease and maintaining excellent comic timing. Kajal and Samanta filled the glamour slots and Kajal got a chance to perform better than Samanta, dominating the female lead. Complete in entertainment value, the film is a family affair.[7] The film has earned huge theatrical revenue in its first week itself and is expected to earn 30 crore.[8]
