Broward County Public Schools, a public school district serving Broward County, Florida, is the nation's sixth largest public school system and the largest fully accredited district in the nation, with over 260,000 students in more than 260 schools and education centers.[3] The district is headquartered in downtown Fort Lauderdale.[6]

The current Superintendent of schools is Robert Runcie.[2] The members of the school board, which oversee the district, are as follows:[7]

During the 2008-2009 academic school year, the District served 255,738 students.[3] The district covers a total of 286 institutions: 138 elementary schools, 43 middle schools, 33 high schools, 16 adult/vocational schools, 16 centers, and 56 charter schools.[3]
