Bruce Hawkins is an American linguist.[1] Hawkins graduated from the University of California in San Diego. Along with Rene Dirven and Esra Sandikcioglu, Hawkins is co-editor of Language and Ideology, Vol 1.: Cognitive theoretical approaches (current isues in linguistic theory).[clarification needed] A professor at Illinois State University, Hawkins continues to collaborate with colleagues, striving to articulate a model of communication which can be applied to the everyday-live experience. He has taught English as a second language, speaking and reading Spanish fluently.[citation needed]
