"Buddha for Mary" is the fifth track on 30 Seconds To Mars' self-titled album.
Written by lead singer-songwriter Jared Leto, the song has become known for its complex and abstract lyrics which has led to interpretations from fans as to what it really means.
Song meaning [edit]
There has been speculation as to what the song is actually about. Lead singer Jared Leto has refused to comment on the meaning of the song apart from mentioning that "Buddha for Mary" is not about a specific person, it's "definitely a metaphor," Jared said.[1] On the same interview Jared also pointed out, "I think that is one of the exciting things about music, the interpretation, from individual to individual and how it can change so much."[1]
