Bultfontein is a small town in the Free State province of South Africa with a population of about 1,000 people and a Phahameng township population of approx 40 000. Bultfontein was established in 1874 on one side of the huge farm Kameeldoorns (Camel Thorns), with another town Hoopstad on the other side. The Earliest township was called Marantha, and because of apartheid it was moved to a distant location and was called Phahameng. The Phahameng was established in the early 70's, and now it has grown to other zones such as; Naledi, Eyo Park, Phase 2, Kgotha, Phola Park, Cross Roads, Mzimhlophe, Kopperasi, Vuka Uzenzele, Magakajane, and Dislepse, Pao,Maoba Park. Bultfontein is situated 80 km from Welkom and 100 km from the capital city of Free State called Bloemfontein. It has the largest silos in southern Africa.
