[edit] UGK and Mddl Fngz
Based in Port Arthur, Texas, Bun B and fellow rapper Chad "Pimp C" Butler formed UGK in the late 1980s[citation needed] and in 1993 signed with Jive Records, which released their major-label debut Too Hard to Swallow. That album was the first among several more bestselling Southern rap albums. Although focusing on UGK, Bun B formed the side project Mddl Fngz in 2000.[1] Mddl Fngz was featured in the AND 1 Streetball video game with the track "Hard In the Paint". UGK has performed guest appearances in the songs "Big Pimpin'" by Jay-Z and "Sippin' on Some Syrup" by Three 6 Mafia.
[edit] Solo career
When Pimp C entered a jail sentence on an aggravated gun assault charge in 2003, Bun B made guest appearances on numerous albums by other Southern rappers and released a 2005 mixtape titled Legends.[1] Singles featuring Bun B included "They Don't Know" by Paul Wall and "Gimme That" by Webbie. Bun B also appeared in a documentary titled Screwed In Houston produced by VBS/Vice Magazine that details the history of the Houston rap scene.
[edit] Trill
In October 2005, Bun B's debut solo album Trill was released.[2] Singles included "Draped Up" with Mike Jones, Lil' Flip, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Aztec Escobar, and Z-Ro,[2] "Git It" with Ying Yang Twins, and "Get Throwed" with Pimp C, Z-Ro, Young Jeezy, & Jay-Z.[3] The album peaked at the sixth spot on the American Billboard 200 chart and number one on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart.[4]
[edit] II Trill
After Pimp C died in 2007, Bun B returned to a solo career. In 2008, he released his second album, II Trill [1] The first single was "That's Gangsta" featuring Sean Kingston. It debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200, selling 98,000 copies.[5] Other singles were "Damn I'm Cold" featuring Lil Wayne and "You're Everything" featuring Rick Ross, David Banner, and 8Ball & MJG, the latter of which was dedicated to the late Pimp C. Bun B's third album is to be Trill O.G.[6]
