Burbank High School is a public high school located in Burbank, California. The school was built in 1908 when it broke off from the Glendale Union High School District. Burbank High will be celebrating its centennial with the class of 2008-09 being the Centennial class on September 11-15.

Burbank High School is the flagship high school of the city of Burbank. Opening on September 14, 1908, Burbank High School's inaugural class had 334 students.

Soon after, John Burroughs High School opened to support the growing population of the City of Burbank.

In 2003, after going an extensive revitalization, Burbank High opened its first phase of reconstruction - a modern, state-of-the-art building housing new classrooms for the entire school. In the course of two years, finally completed in 2005, the Burbank High campus boasted a new gym, pool, visual and performing arts center, parking structure, athletic field, and tennis courts.

[edit] Show Choir Program

Burbank High is known for its nationally ranked advanced mixed show choir, called In Sync, directed by Brett Carroll. Also directed by Brett Carroll, they have their advanced women's group, "Impressions", and their intermediate mixed group, "Out of the Blue". Burbank High School also has an intermediate women's group, "Sapphire", directed by Donna Dandino. The Burbank High School show choir program was recently ranked number one in the country.[1] Burbank High School hosts its own non-competitive show choir competition called Burbank Blast, intended to be held annually starting 2008. Burbank High Show Choirs as of May 2009 are ranked number four in the nation.

Burbank High School runs two competitive Academic Decathlon teams, ranked in 2007 23rd in the United States, and currently holding 12th overall in Los Angeles County Office of Education.

The Roberta Kordich award was given to coach Valerie Beidelman for her support and dedication to the Burbank High School Academic Decathlon Team.

Burbank High School ("The Bulldogs") fields a full range of high school interscholastic athletic teams including both men's and women's basketball teams, tennis, football, baseball, softball, golf, swimming and others. They compete in the California Interscholastic Federation's Southern Section as a member of the Pacific League.
