COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, also known by its acronym CIIT, is a public research university in Pakistan. It is a multi campus institute with its main campus located in Islamabad. It is ranked among the top 5 Universities of Pakistan. The CIIT, besides its principal campus at Islamabad, has six other fully functional campuses at Lahore, Abbottabad, Wah, Attock, Sahiwal and Vehari.


started operating in a rented building of the University Grant Commission, with certificated courses began in August 1998.

Since its establishment, the university has attracted several influential scientists and scholars.[1] [2] It is listed among one of the top institutions of higher education by the HEC.[2] The university is also a member of Association of Commonwealth Universities of the United Kingdom.[3]

CIIT's research and development directed towards the advancement of philosophy, law, social and natural sciences has increased its progress during the last ten years as an institution of higher education.[4] Furthermore, the university is noted for its large-scale publications in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Physics in reputed national and international academic journals.[5]
