[edit] About
Cadsoft Corporation is a global developer of 3D modeling software for the residential and light commercial construction market.
[edit] History
Original roots began in 1984 in Brisbane Australia with the development of an AutoCAD add-on known as AutoPlan (later renamed to APDesign). Brian and Lenelle Hunter founded the company and developed a presence throughout Australia and several European countries. In 1994, Tim Nye of Guelph Ontario became the North American distributor and developed an alliance with Autodesk which resulted in the release in 1996 of Cadsoft Build, the first licensed stand-alone product based on the Autodesk OEM Engine. Cadsoft was purchased from the Hunters in 1997 by Nye and all development and support of the product line was moved to Guelph Ontario shortly after that time frame. The company was purchased by a private investment firm in 1999 and currently owns the organization to this day.
