District profile[edit]

The 16th District encompasses the southern Central Valley, including the entirety of Kings County and parts of Fresno, Kern, and Tulare Counties.

2011 redistricting[edit]

After redistricting in 2011 by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, the new district consists of the southeastern Central Valley and the High Desert. Much of the population is in the western parts of the district in the Central Valley, while the desert regions in the eastern half consist of scattered settlements. The new district lines will take effect in the 2014 election.
