2011 redistricting[edit]

After redistricting in 2011 by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission, the new district runs along the entire border between California and Mexico. The heavily Latino district is a mix of urban San Diego neighborhoods in the west and rural Imperial County farmland in the east. The new district lines will take effect in the 2014 election.
