[edit] The Cal Park Hill Tunnel
The Cal Park Hill Tunnel is a single-track train tunnel formerly owned by Northwestern Pacific Railroad which runs through the hill to Larkspur. It has been closed for several decades but is scheduled to fully open in October 2010 for bicycle and pedestrian traffic.[1]
There had been a large controversy as to whether to re-open the tunnel for bicycle/pedestrian use and/or to pass a bond that would provide funding to create the Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART).
