Candelifera
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In Roman mythology, Candelifera was a goddess of childbirth. She was usually associated with Lucina and Carmenta
Early Roman Mythology focused on the interlocking and complex interrelations between gods and humans. In this, the Romans maintained a large selection of divinities with unusually specific areas of authority. A sub-group of deities covered the general realm of infancy and childhood.[1] In this area, Candelifera was called upon as a general guardian and tutelary deity to guide an unborn infant to Lucina and the experience of the child's first sight.
