Castro Verde (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈkaʃtɾu ˈveɾð(ɨ)]) is one of the towns in Castro Verde Municipality. It has 3.819 inhabitants.[1]
It is very likely with the arrival of the Romans to the region for nearly two thousand years, which gives the commencement of the occupation of Castro Verde. Traditionally, its toponym, "Castrum Veteris" (here associated with the installation of a Roman military camp) comes to him exactly that rich period for the History of the whole region, but which continues the economic structure since around 1000 BC brought pastoral communities in the region and miners in search of rich pasture and field outcrops Metallic and White Pyrite Belt.
