George Saounatsos (born in 1970), has studied in the USA, UK and Greece and holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Air Transport Management, an international Master of Business Administration (i-MBA) with distinction, specializing in Transport & Logistics, a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aerospace Engineering with honors, as well as a Commercial Pilot (CPL) and Flight Instructor (CFI-I) license.

He started as a certified flight instructor back in 1990 just before engaging full-time with academia. Following his military service in the Air Force (HAF), he has held a number of senior operational, engineering and managerial positions in five countries with aviation industry leaders and landmark projects. He has been also nominated by the INTERNATIONAL CIVIL AVIATION ORGANIZATION (ICAO) Technical Cooperation Bureau to the roster of world experts on Airport Management, Development & Operations.

The fine blend of aviation knowledge and experience is reflected in his main professional engagements which include: the new ATHENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (ATH) certification and airport operations supervision; the AIRBUS A380 Program ground operations and associated functional integration administration; the management of the design development of the first Passenger Terminal facilities of Dubai World Central (DWC) international airport for ADPi (AEROPORTS DE PARIS Group); the set up and management of the Operational Readiness & Airport Transition (ORAT) program of the new international airports in Pafos (PFO) and Larnaka (LCA) for VANCOUVER AIRPORT SERVICES and HERMES AIRPORTS; the CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY (HCAA) flight standards and airworthiness oversight; as well as the corporate management of BAHRAIN AIRPORT SERVICES (BAS) and its subsidiary BAS Aircraft Engineering Training Center (BAETC), where in the capacity of the Chief Executive (CEO) he was driving the 3,000-staff company through its restructuring and operational streamlining.
