The three stretches of the (U.S. and Mexico) Rio Grande/Rio Bravo valleys are: northwest in the U.S. state of New Mexico; along the border in southern state of Texas and northeastern Mexico state of Chihuahua; and extreme southern Texas, named the Rio Grande Valley, from Brownsville, Texas and upstream.

Big Bend National Park and the mountains are a stretch for certain Bird Species.
