Buddy films, including buddy cop films, usually have two protagonists. Regardless of other aspects of their plots (comedy, action, even drug use in the case of stoner films), buddy films characteristically examine or comment on the nature of friendship.
The category can have significant overlap with films in Category:road movies since events on the trip serve as a plot device for exploring or advancing the friendship of the protagonists.
