For the few current Air Force Stations (e.g., Cape Canaveral AFS, Cheyenne Mountain AFS) and for USAF facilities never designated "Air Force Station" such as the:
- Ft Meade and SAC radar stations,
- annexes such as at Suffolk Co. NY and in CO Springs, and
- Air Force Plants
This category is for former military installations no longer designated "Air Force Station" such as most United States general surveillance radar stations during the Cold War, e.g., the 1951 Mount Tamalpais AFS (renamed Mill Valley AFS in 1953) became FAA Ground Equipment Facility J-33 in 1980. Nearly all are designated Formerly Used Defense Sites (cf. stations still being used as military installations under different designations such as the former Falcon AFS--now Schriever Air Force Base) .
